" Living in San Diego, it was quite a challenge to get me placed into a station. The station that I was placed into, 101.3 KATY in Temecula, California was truly a one of a kind experience. I had the distinct pleasure of training with not only a mentor but a friend in KATY morning man Bob Madden. Bob was extremely helpful, fun and ingrained a fire in me that has burned ever since the first day we started working on the curriculum. I absolutely loved every single assignment in the course because through that as well as Bob’s expert training, I was able to “come out of my shell” so to speak. I used to be a very shy.." Read More

"I studied radio and television production in college, but I never did anything with it. Instead, I became an actor and have been doing that for almost 20 years. For the last 10 years, I have been performing at Epcot in Orlando, Florida doing street theater and the odd commercial and small TV and film work every now and then. Recently, I decided to awaken the broadcasting part of me, but did not want to start all over again. Having had some experience and training, I wanted to expedite the process. That's when I happened upon NBTN and Cathy Keyes. After hearing my story, Cathy was very excited to help and help she did." Read More

"I would like to thank you in helping me start my career in the broadcasting industry. I have been working for WBQB 101.5 in Fredericksburg, Virginia for about six weeks now. In September of this year, I started working the boards and giving the weather forecast on Sunday nights. I have also been given the "Bee Blitz" job. The "Bee Blitz" is where I give high school football scoring updates over the air on Friday nights This is right up my alley as I pursue my dream job as a sports play-by-play commentator. "...Then he (Program Director) showed me a stack of CD's on his desk. These were people looking for work in radio. They are looking to fill an empty slot on one of the morning shows. In the mean time all the other jocks are filling in as co-host on the morning show. ANYWAY he said that there were some changes that needed to be made at Clear Channel and that he would keep the resume and keep me in mind. He told me that I had something over all those people in that stack of CD who were looking for work. He said that I already have my foot in the door and that he knows me and he doesn't know them. He told me that I was "already on of us around here". I thought the meeting went very well and I am working hard and looking forward to the rest of time there." Read More

"I can't even begin to describe the excitement I get when I walk into the studio. It's almost the same feeling I got as a kid taking my first steps through the doors of Toys R' Us. I am currently working the board operations on 630AM KJNO midweek, and get the privilege to DJ on their sister station, Taku105 FM, on the weekends. When I signed up for this school I had no idea that I was going to be offered a job, much less in the very first week. My mentor Marc "Maverick" Mulkey is a riot to work with and he has become a very good friend of mine in the short time I have spent with him." Read More

"...Thank-you so much for the course you provide to us hopeful future broadcasters. A hopeful future broadcaster is exactly what I was until I found the website for NBTN. I made a call to Dave Yates and in just a few days we got the ball rolling on an adventure of a lifetime. Dave hooked me up with a mentor at a soft rock station in my area and my training began the next week. My mentor, Brian Moore, is the afternoon DJ at the station, as well as production director. I truly believe that Dave Yates deserves a metal for finding me this mentor. The NBTN course covers every aspect of the broadcasting field and since I was meeting my mentor at the station, I learned all of the equipment as well." Read More

"I write this to you during my board-op shift at B 101.5 FM. I've tried applying for board-op positions at radio stations in the past, but was unsuccessful until I found an "in" through the Broadcasters Training Network. The best part is that I also do on-air work as a weekend/fill-in dj! Getting on-air work before I even finished the course was way beyond my expectations." Read More

"I’m writing to thank you and Andee for placing me with Kat Corbett at KROQ 106.7 FM in Los Angeles. With her guidance and by following the NBTN training lessons, within 6 months of moving to San Diego I have obtained a part-time board op/on air position at FM 94/9, one of the most popular local stations.

Kat went above and beyond the call of duty as a mentor. She trained me on the board and helped to develop my on-air skills. Not only was she generous with sharing her vast knowledge and experience, she took hours out of her busy schedule to meet with me before and after her shifts to prepare me for the job search and to record a demo. Additionally, she used contacts she had in the industry to get my demo to the right person and her creative packaging ideas were vital in getting it noticed. " Read More
