Talk Show Host
Whether it's about news, politics, business, relationships, sex, sports, cars,
fishing, cooking, or stocks, talk radio is here to stay.
Actually, talk radio has been in existence for quite some time as a number of
stations in the 1950s devoted their evening hours to call-in shows and
the like. Today, radio stations of all kinds have some form of talk or
call-in element as a regular part of their programming.
However, a word of caution. If you're interested in hosting a specialized kind
of talk show, you should already be a recognized expert in the area you
plan to talk about. Otherwise, most talk show hosts get their start as
a result of years in the news department.
Nevertheless, opportunities in talk radio are available for people with expertise in
certain areas. In fact, some of the most sought-after and highly-paid
radio personalities are talk show hosts.
But without radio broadcasting experience to go along with your expertise
in another area, it's very hard to find work as a talk show host. It's
a Catch-22 situation, you can't get a job without experience, and you
can't get experience without a job. NBTN has been successful in helping
people gain the practical, hands-on experience necessary to secure
employment in talk radio.
